The Llandudno Great Orme Goats have always been popular with locals and visitors alike but rose to world-wide fame during the first nationwide lock down when they saw an opportunity and took over the town!
Native to the mountains of India, these Kashmir goats were imported in to Europe in the 1800's for their cashmere, the Shah of Persia gifted a pair to Queen Victoria in 1837. The Royal Windsor Herd grew from there. The goats have been resident on the Great Orme for over 100 years after Lord Mostyn acquired a pair from the Royal Herd. Generally they graze on the headland but venture down to the town during colder weather.
